Visitors Galore
Well today I have been blessed with visits from both my Gran and Moochy’s mum and dad. Both just came and chatted and my Gran when asked if she wanted a cup of tea, said “Yes, and I’ll have a toast butty too!” – To those of you not familiar with my gran’s vernacular, she actually meant she was hungry and would like some toast.
Classic.
I have also managed to go for 2 x 10+ minute walks as well, so I am not doing too bad. I also even had a breakthrough last night as I managed to turn onto my side when sleeping. This is the first time since my operation and it was a blessed relief. I can of course sleep on my back, but relax much more when I am on my side. It’s not completely comfortable and I think it will be even better tonight if I take a small cushion up with me to sort of lie on when I do turn over.
Tomorrow, we plan to do just one walk, but to the local corner shop, which is that little bit further away and then on Sunday, we plan to go to Bents Garden centre for a cup of tea. Small victories make for big progress I am finding.
Also, my IBS is still giving me problems, I won’t go into details, but I find that I can’t eat anything too rich as it.. well… goes straight through (sorry TMI).
But…. overall, I feel the trend is up. xx

Hello Gillibob!
Just read your diary, so far… I can sympathise with you, as I had a total hysterectomy on 14th July, so it is early days for me as well!
I have to say that your experience with pain control sounded very nice compared with mine (or lack of it!), let say. I opted for epidural with anesthetic, which was recommended to me by my anesthetist, for the control of the pain after op.
Unfortunately I was one in a few hundred it did not work for, and therefore when I woke up from the op I was in tremondous pain, and all the dr could give me was parecetamal! I understood that they were unable to give me morphine drip, because my system was still full of the epidural. It really was very painful for the first couple of days. On the second night I was offered some codene and anti inflam tablets, which did ease the pain a little.
I was badly bruised from the op, and my bladder was affected quite badly, being unable to go without cathater. They therefore replaced cathater for an extra two days, so all in all I was in hospital for 5 days.
I am now recovering well, slow but sure, a little like yourself by the sounds of it!
Thankfully I have had the help of a lovely husband and sister who have waited and cared for me during the first couple of weeks. My friend Josie has been an absolute angel, visiting and bringing us stews etc!
Feeling sleepy and exhausted when I have done some light housework and cooking is my worst bugbear at the moment, but I am sure that I will, like you, get stronger every day!
I note that you have had problems with IBS, and I have, but mine seems to be more constipation with all the bloating and pain that goes with it. My Doctor has prescribed buscapan, which helps to a certain degree, but I am sure this is something with both of us that will settle down in its own time.
It is great to read someone else who is going through the same thing, and it is not just me!
Sorry, I had not quite finished typing when I hit the wrong key, so it sent !
Just to say I wish you a very speedy recovery, and hope that you too will be back to your normal self in a couple of months!
Kind regards
