Technology & Me
or should that be Technology and I? Either way, the basic facts are that I LOVE technology, like properly don’t know what I would do without it. I genuinely get bubbles in my belly when there is a chance for me to get a new piece of kit and I have never once had the “fear” about trying things out.
Last night, I spent and enjoyable and excitable hour or so with Moochy whilst he helped me with a database problem. I had been commissioned to create something for work and was having trouble wrapping my head around the initial concept. Moochy helped me clear the water and off we went. We did get stuck on one bit, but with a bit of help from good and a “fully qualified geek” (I class myself as part-qualified), we got the project working 100% brilliantly. He is a fucking genius and it’s awesome to watch him work. No seriously, it’s awesome in the way it’s amazing to watch top class athletes compete or high end restaurants serve food – totally a class act.
In fact, our whole household is full of technology, no seriously, it’s gadgets galore…..as far as I can remember, we have got:
- A Mac-Mini
- A Laptop
- A Kindle
- A Netbook
- An iPad
- A PS3
- An Xbox 360 with Kinect
- A Wii
And of course not forgetting the Apple Aiport for playing Music wirelessley from one of the 2 iPhones in our house, or the 2 digital cameras and a handheld mini video camera. You have to also bear in mind at this point, that there are only 2 people living in our house. So the question I have to ask you all is, is this too much technology for 2 people….
Oo, who cares, I love a bit of kit and so does Moochy – bring on the next big thing I say…. xxx
Technology is Amazing
It has to be said that I love technology. When I plan my “dream house”, I always plan the tech it will have in it. In our house (where there are only 2 people), there are no less than 8 devices that connect to the internet and one of the greatest things is discovering GREAT technology. For instance, I was thrilled when I discovered the McDonalds App. Now I know you might be thinking this was because I was a complete fatty bum bum who loves burgers – but you would be wrong. As I have blogged before, I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and sometimes for my job, I have to do extensive community visits around Greater Manchester. Sometimes my IBS has a wobbler and I need the loo urgently.
The McDonalds app immediately shows you where the nearest one is and with the aid of the Tom Tom I can be on the….using the…. ahem….well you get the picture….
This week I have also “discovered” LinkedIn. I say discovered, its obviously been out for ages, but it’s a discovery for me as I’ve only just signed up. I made the move as my brother-in-law was approached by a recruitment company after they had seen his profile and he got an interview. Seeing as my job is officially “at risk”, I figured it was worth a punt. To be fair the BBC or Buckingham Palace (dream employers) haven’t knocked on the door yet, but I imagine they want to get the weekend out of the way first!
The second discovery of the week was Drop Box! Drop Box is basically an online storage facility (nothing new there then), but this is one that syncs your files automatically. So I can work on something at home and it saves automatically into drop box, which I can then access at work when I get there. Any changes I make at work at synced with home…. you get the picture….. I LOVE IT… XXX
Also… this weekend… WE ARE PUTTING UP THE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS!!!!!!! *SWOONS*
