I’ve been busy
Firstly, let me apologise, I have been somewhat busy and a little tired and neglected to tell you all about stuff that has been going on… forgive me…
I guess the first thing I should tell you about it my cake decorating class… it was brillo pads x 10. I was a bit nervous going in, but after that it was great as the tutor was very friendly (perfect) and the class was structured in a fairly informal way (suits me) with a 30 minute demo and then about an hours practice time after that. I didn’t really do much practically, as the basket of flower arrangements that the class were making were part of a two week process and they had all made the flowers last week. However, Jan (the tutor), had made me some flowers – so at least I got to have a go at making a basket…

I can tell you are impressed no? Next week we are going to make a baby in a crib and I can’t wait:
It does seem to be costing me a small fortune, but I have been wanting to go on a cake decorating course for ages, but every time I signed up for “Sugar and Spice” at St Helens college, it always seemed to be full! Anyway, I will keep you posted with my progress. *giddy*
Yesterday was also a big day as I went to a BBC conference at UClan in Preston. The main focus was around the BBC moving up to the North West and about the recruitment of talent. The general buzz of the day were the guest speakers, which included Ranvir Singh, presenter of North West Tonight, Nick Park, the co-creator of Aardman Animation (Wallace and Gromit), Mary Anne Hobbs, a former Radio 1 DJ and the award winning comedienne Victoria Wood. I have to say I was the most excited about Victoria Wood as I just LOVE her… I was hoping that I might get the chance to get her autograph or photo or something, but the proceedings were slightly more formal than that, so I just got to admire her from the audience…….. ooeer, I just re-read that last sentence and realised it made me sound like a mad stalker, but I honestly am just a massive fan of her work.. honest…
Anyway, Nick Park was fascinating but obvious nervous and quite shy, Ranvir Singh was very entertaining and obviously quite funny, Mary Anne Hobbs was passionate and an excellent orator and Victoria Wood was quite humble and I could have listened to her all afternoon.
What a funny few days. A couple of other small points to note are that I did a good deed on Tuesday afternoon when I gave a girl in the sorting office 20p so that she could get her parcel. She didn’t have quite enough money and was getting a bit stressed. I was so tired last night that I fell asleep on the couch at about 19:45 and basically slept through till this my alarm this morning at 6:15 – I could easily have carried on snoozing. And finally, I went on 4 trains yesterday to get to my conference, and not once did I get my ticket checked – not once!!! Funny x
I can’t believe you made that cake!
Further to the recipe I posted for Lorraine Pascale’s “I can’t believe you made that cake“. I just thought you might like to see the photos of my 0wn attempt – I thought It came out rather well
