IBS

Things I have seen…

Today I have three things, one which was slightly disappointing, one which was shocking and one which made me smile inwardly…

Slightly Disappointing
So today Moochy and I have been to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I. Of course we have read the book and we knew the story, but even so, we found the film a little boring… Moochy and I agree that the part of the story where Harry, Hermione and Ron leave Hogwarts gets a bit lost as the forest doesn’t seem like a natural resting place for them. For me there was too much narrative and not enough umpf! Don’t get me wrong, the opening where Mad-eye Moody get killed* and some of the parts in Ministry of Magic were spectacular… but the forest does nothing for me. I love Harry Potter for the magical world and the magical school… I walk the dog in the forest all the time.. there is nothing magical about that.

Shocking
After seeing the film Moochy and I went into St Helens town centre to maybe look for him somthing to send away to Father Christmas. It is at this point you should know that we both LOVE Christmas and I am the self appointed Christmas Fairy. Some people say that as you get older Christmas is all about the kids… well we don’t have any and in our house, Christmas is all about US!!! But I digress, Moochy and I were going into Clarke’s shoe shop which is situated next to McDonalds. We were passing just in time to see a 10 year old boy (max) come out from the burger place and shout loudly to his companion “Come here you freak!” and then he exclaimed “Oh for F*cks Sake!”

Can I just point out again that such profanities came from a  boy that was no more than 10. I hope his mother is very proud.

Inward Smile
Peggy with the hiccups. Priceless.

♥♥♥

Also, a slight bit of IBS trivia for you…. tonight on our way home from St Helens, I counted 13 places where I could have stopped and gone to the loo on my journey home…

  1. Pizza Hut
  2. Cineworld Cinema
  3. Wetherspoons
  4. Tesco
  5. Park Inn Hotel
  6. Burger King (Retail Park)
  7. KFC (Matalan)
  8. Parr Baths/Hong Sing Chinese Restaurant
  9. Primrose Vaults Pub
  10. Princess Royal Pub
  11. The Ship Inn
  12. The Huntsman

by which time I would be almost home and could probably manage to wait. How geeky am I though xx ;-)

* In answer to anybody who is about to complain about spoilers, I am happy to quote @ImperialRoseZay‘s tweet which read:

Dear people who moan about the RIP Dobby TT because it’s a spoiler: Snape dies in the next one. Yours sincerely, the people who read books.

Weight Watchers Innovation

So today is Saturday and I’m not having a 100% brilliant day.  I suffer from chronic Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and whilst sometimes it doesn’t bother me at all, sometimes it can be horrible and really affect my life. It can often make me feel like an incontinent old woman or give me painful constipation. I know you are probably screwing your face up at this point thinking TOO MUCH INFORMATION!!!! But this is my reality and they say that a silent disease is a dead disease. If you aren’t sure what IBS is, check out this videoToday hasn’t been a good day in terms of IBS, but I think that is down to me being a bit worried about my job which is officially “at risk”. I had a bad experience working at St Helens Council in 2007 and left under very stressfull circumstances, so working for GMCVO has really restored my confidence – I would be gutted to have to leave. :-(

But anyway, the title of this blog is Weight Watchers Innovation and that is what I am waiting for  in anticipation. I have been following the Weight Watchers points system on an off with a variety of succcess for about 10 years. I have lost 3 stone and put it all back on again in a yo-yo stylie and I have to admit, I have got a bit bored with the whole thing, although I know that it works. I

However, I got an email from Weight Watchers about 10 days ago which said:

It’s new.
It’s breakthrough
It’s coming.
November 7th

So after trawling the internet today (a day early), I found this Daily Mail piece about it. Which sounds like they are ditching the points system in favour of something which sounds more like a healthy eating plan than a diet. Shying away from calories and fat and centering on the amounts of protein, carbohydrate, fibre. Obviously all will be revealed tomorrow, but it does sound like a huge change and something that might even kick start my own bum into bridesmaid weight loss.

So I will find out exactly what the craic is tomorrow and even though I am going for a full on Sunday dinner at The Lowry in Salford, it doesn’t mean that I can’t check it out and make a plan. Brillo pads. xxx
