Weekend is upon us

Wow, I’ve had quite a strange week. The illness is almost out of the house, except Moochy is still coughing and even the next door neighbour commented on it this morning – she could hear it through the walls, eek. I fear that if he isn’t feeling better after the weekend, he may need a trip to the doctors. For him, it’s not so much the coughing, although that is pretty irritating for him, it’s the lack of sleep. Poor Moochy. xxx

Work has been the same as normal and we are still waiting to hear if we have won the bid we put in for before Christmas, fingers still crossed. But my social calendar has turned itself up a notch as I have been invited to 2 lunches out and a hen do! The first lunch is on Thursday next week to help a colleague celebrate Chinese New Year, by all accounts it’s the incoming Year of the Rabbit. Apparently as she can’t get home and be with her family (which is supposed to bind you through the next year), she is going to celebrate it with the GMCVO lot – how nice :)

The second lunch is in a couple of weeks with my friend Karen. She used to be my manager, but have grown fairly close over the last couple of years and have become friends. We actually haven’t been out for lunch for ages, so it will be nice to spend a bit of time with her.

Finally, the Hen Do I have been invited on is for my sister, who’s bridesmaid I am going to be in April. Several options for the “do” have been mooted, which included boozy nights out in Liverpool and pole dancing lessons, but we think the final one that people can afford etc will be a medieval banquet at Park Hall in Charnock Richard. Should be a good night. It’s funny how the whole “hen do” thing has evolved. Traditionally it was the last night of freedom before the virgin bride went to become a faithful married woman, except now it seems like an excuse for a boozy, “messy” night out/holiday. Still, even though it’s not my thing, different thing work for different people, so who am I to judge?

This weekend also sees Moochy and I doing a 4 mile training walk with Peggy tonight, followed by his mum and dad coming for a Dinner Party tomorrow night. We are trying new foods and recipes, so I will have to post to tell you how it goes. Then on Sunday, the 3 of us are going to Delamere Forest to do a 5 mile training walk and I can’t wait. I can sometimes be a bit lazy about going as I spend so much time commuting in the weekabout and it’s  40-45 minutes away in the car, which often equals me not being arsed. But I ALWAYS love it when I get there as it’s beautiful and food for the soul.

Bring it on I say xxxx

Saturday

Wowee,  I am a bit tired now, mainly because it’s Saturday and partly because, I have been for a walk today, I’ve had a warm bath and I am nice and relaxed. My PMT has finally subsided today and even though I am left with mild belly wax (aka period pains), it’s nothing I can’t cope with.

The walk that I went on with Moochy and Peggy dog also helped lift my mood as it is one of my favourite things in the world to do. The canal and wooded footpaths are even more beautiful in the snow….

I am also sans Moochy at the moment as, despite trying to have a lie in this morning, he was wide away at the same time he would normally get up for work. So about an hour ago, he decided to go up to bed for a nap… bless him… I am very lucky as I can sleep almost anywhere, but he has trouble…..

Today is just chilling and watching Strictly and the final of I’m a celeb.. but tomorrow means a little go in the loft and the Christmas decorations…. bring it on….xxx

Wayne Rooney: Spotted

Good Food Day

Now as a co-opted Liverpool Football Club fan (Moochy is and ardent fan), I would never have thought any blog of mine would have a Man U player in it! (It’s a loyalty thing).  But I work just outside Manchester city centre and tonight, whilst stuck in traffic on the Mancunian way, I realised the car waiting right at the side of me was being driven by Wayne Rooney! I was asked later on if I waved at him, and whilst I should have given him the 1 fingered salute, I actually just completely ignored him… I mean, it’s not like it was George Clooney or anything?!

But back to this morning, it was my turn to walk Peggy dog and so I decided to go for my miCoach runwalk and combine the two. However, to quote Craig Revel Horwood, “It was a DISARRRSTER darling”. Peggy dog didnt want to run and just wanted to wee and poo every 2 minutes and we had to keep stopping, the whole program was only 30 minutes  so it was a struggle to fully get going. Also, to add insult to injury, right at the end, some guy in a car waved for me to cross the road, then decided to go anyway. My first instinct was to apologise, but then he proceeded to go mad at me through the window. :-( What a n*b.

Anyway, food today has been good and I seem to have re-discovered fruit!

My thought for the day was “Food is not the answer”…….xxx

P.S OH MY GOD, I nearly forgot to tell you, I entered the Manchester 10k today!!!!! Bring it on!!!!!

Funny Friday

My head is a jumble today, I am veering between being happy, grumpy, motivated and slightly headachy. I woke up to a very very windy morning and first of all I didn’t want to get out of bed, but I did as it was my turn to walk Peggy-dog. I took her on the very windy and cold field and she LOVED IT!!! This meant though, that she either couldn’t hear me or just didn’t want to come back when I called her, so I had to try extra specially hard not to sound annoyed when shouting her back (dog handler 101 is not to sound annoyed when recalling your dog, as they will think: “you sound angry and there is no way I am coming back for a telling off”).

But by the time I was back in the warm house and had fed Peggy-dog, I had a cup of tea and there was no way I felt like getting changed, getting in the cold car and driving 22 miles down the motorway to work :-( But for the 2nd time today, I forced myself, all the while thinking that in normal circumstances I could just get chocolate or other crappy food  that would make me feel better (short term) and then make me feel guilty (long term). Oh the wranglings of a prospective bridesmaid…..

Anyway, the two positive things that happened on my journey were

  1.  I decided to call into Sainsbury’s on the way to work and get some nice, healthy food, that I WANTED to eat and that will hopefully steer me clear of any more grumpiness..
  2. Desert Island Discs was on Radio 4 and it was poet called Ian McMillan, who was great and I loved listening to it and him.

When I get home, I do have the prospect of a kitchen floor covered in muddy paw prints, but my plan is to make a pasta bake for tea and watch 24 Season 8 with Moochy. I think if you add a touch of Strictly Come Dancing ITT with the lovely (and bonkers) Claudia Winkleman, then I think I might just turn this frown upside down…..

Teacake Thursday

Today has been an interesting day, as before 9am I had done the following:

  • Gone for a run/walk with Peggy dog
  • Put a lamb casserole in the slow cooker for tea
  • Fed Peggy
  • Had a shower
  • Made my lunch
  • Emailed my boss

So when I eventually did depart for work, I did do feeling rather smug and pleased with myself. ♥ I have had some meeting and things at work and so far it’s been all good. Although I did start to feel peckish at 17:30 whilst still in work, so I raided my drawer and had an emergency tea-cake. Thank god for Warburtons is what I say.  You may be thinking, why don’t you just wait till you get home and have your ACTUAL TEA! Well my brain doesn’t work like that, I just keep thinking “I’m hungry”, which usually leads to me getting something rubbish from the garage to snack on the hour long journey home. So whilst the tea-cake is admittedly not ideal, it’s better than a Crunchie and a packet of crisps!

Another thing to mention about today, is that I got interview by “Your Dog Magazine” and if you are wondering what the flippin eck that is, imagine Horse and Hounds without the guns. I have to say, I felt very honoured to be interviewed and not in the least bit nervous. Writing for Peggy’s Blog has some perks and I have to admit, that I would chuffed if anything came of it.

Bit of Damages tonight I think, gotta love Glenn Close. xxx
